Distinguished Fellows are selected based upon an outstanding and long sustained demonstration of top-ranking competence in the field of Management and Leadership with exceptional professionalism, consummate integrity, demonstrated service, significant contribution, and notable leadership.

CIML Distinguished Fellowship award is the highest level of fellowship created by the Charter of the Institute. It is set aside solely for Leaders, Managers, top officials, and heads or senior executives of public and private organizations who have themselves with outstanding records of service, achievements and verifiable contributions in the areas of Management and Leadership.

CIML Distinguished Fellowship gives private and public sector professionals, career officers and political executives the recognition and mark of professional excellence and distinction which enhance career prospects.

  • Holds an advanced degree in a Management and Leadership related field

  • Has significant experience as a researcher and/or educator in the areas of Management and Leadership

  • Not less than Five (5) total years of membership as a Fellow of CIML and giving significant service to the Society, and making considerable contributions in the areas of Management and Leadership

  • Nomination is initiated by your local District Branch.

  • A written endorsement from a Current or Former CIML Council Members, Regional Director, or any DFCIML Member in good standing indicating knowledge of your accomplishments, commitment to the field of Management & Leadership, professionalism, and recommendation for your appointment.

Distinguished Felows may use DFCIML after their name

  • Applicants for Fellow require senior professional standing based on demonstrable achievement and competence in the development or application of Management and Leadership.
  • Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:
    CIML Executive Diploma in Business Leadership, or
    Masters Degree in Management or related discipline from an Accredited Institution
    Fellow Membership of a Recognized Professional Body
  • In addition to the approved academic qualification for the Fellow Membership grade, applicants must satisfy one of the following:
  • Completion of Ten years of research in Management and Leadership which has made a valuable contribution to the subject,
    Completion of Fifteen years responsible work requiring knowledge and application of Management and Leadership,
    Have made outstanding contributions to the development of Management and Leadership.
  • Initial applications should normally be accompanied by qualification transcript(s).
  • Members may use the letters FCIML after their name.
  • Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration. This agreement constitutes a contract to abide by the rules of the Institute. A properly completed application will not be processed until the appropriate fees are received.
  • The application must include a detailed statement outlining current and previous professional activities. The statement is an important part of the application
    and should make the case for acceptance by the Membership Committee. Additional information may be enclosed.
  • Applicants for Fellow Membership should nominate two referees who will be invited to submit a reference. Therefore, the nominees should have detailed
    knowledge of the applicant’s work and should be more senior than the applicant or of equal seniority but working for a different department or organisation.
  • The ideal arrangement is for at least one referee to be a Fellow Member of the Institute or another person who can provide authoritative comment on the
    applicant’s Management/Leadership background and current work. One referee should be the applicant’s manager or employer. Where an applicant’s manager
    or employer is a member of the Institute, only one referee is required

An applicant must meet the academic qualifications and professional experience requirements detailed below.

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:
CIML Executive Diploma in Business Leadership,
Master Degree in Management or other related area from an accredited Institution
Full Membership of a Recognized Professional Body

Applicants will be required to show that they have Seven years post graduation experience for which their Management/Leadership training is relevant, and that they have an appropriate level of professional standing.

Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration. This agreement constitutes a
contract to abide by the rules of the Institute. A properly completed application will not be processed until the appropriate fees are received.

The application must include a detailed statement outlining current and previous professional activities. The statement is an important part of the application

Designatory Letters
Members may use the letters MCIML after their name.

Those who obtain their degree after or during a period of employment may be eligible for Full Membership. Differentiation is required between qualifications that enhance and formalise Management and Leadership knowledge already acquired through professional experience, and qualifications that are the starting point of a career in Management and Leadership.

If an applicant takes a career break for any reason (for example health, family, redundancy) this does not prevent progression to Member, provided they have at some stage gained the qualifications, training and professional experience required.

CIML Advanced Diploma in Business Management and Leadership,
Bachelor's Degree in Management or other related area from an accredited Institution
Associate Membership of a Recognized Professional Body.

Applicants will be required to show that they have Four years post graduation experience for which their Management/Leadership training is relevant, and that they have an appropriate level of professional standing.

Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration. This agreement constitutes a contract to abide by the rules of the Institute.

Applications for Associate Member may be accepted by the Membership Manager on behalf of the Membership Committee provided the applicant clearly meets the requirements for the grade. Where it is not clear that the applicant meets the requirements the application is referred to the Institute’s Membership Committee Qualification Sub-Group.

Members may use the letters ACIML after their name.

Associate Membership allows individuals to participate in the Institute’s activities whilst gaining the experience required for Full Membership Associate
Members would normally be expected to apply for transfer to another grade after not more than Five years in the Associate Member grade.

Graduate Members are admitted on the basis of academic qualifications only.  The requirement is to hold one of the following qualifications:

CIML Diploma in Business Management and Leadership
A  Bachelor's degree in Management or related subject.

 

Initial applications should normally be accompanied by qualification transcript(s).

Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration.  This agreement constitutes a contract to abide by the rules of the Institute.

Members may use the letters Grad.CIML after their names.

Student Members should, normally, be pursuing a course of study leading to a degree in Management or related subject from an accredited Institution.

An application should be accompanied by confirmation of appropriate studies, for example a copy of a letter confirming registration on a relevant course.

Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration. This agreement constitutes a contract to abide by the rules of the Institute.

Applications for Student Membership may be accepted by the Membership Manager on behalf of the Membership Committee provided the applicant clearly meets the requirements for the grade. Where it is not clear that the applicant meets the requirements the application is referred to the Institute’s Membership Committee Qualification Sub-Group.

Student Members should normally apply for transfer to another grade after not more than Five years in the Student Member grade.

Full-time postgraduate students may become or remain Graduate Members but pay the Student rate for up to three years.

There are no formal requirements. Affiliate Members are persons who have an interest in Management/Leadership and who wish to participate in the activities of the Institute but who are not necessarily engaged professionally in Management and Leadership.

Applicants must supply all information as requested on the application form, and indicate their agreement to the declaration. This agreement constitutes a
contract to abide by the rules of the Institute.

Student Members should normally apply for transfer to another grade after not more than Five years in the Student Member grade.

Full-time postgraduate students may become or remain Graduate Members but pay the Student rate for up to three years.

 

Applications for Affiliate Members may be accepted by the Membership Manager on behalf of the Membership Committee.
