The Chartered Institute of Management Leadership (CIML) Code of Conduct is a foundational framework that defines the professional and ethical standards expected of all members. It reflects CIML’s commitment to promoting integrity, accountability, and excellence in management and leadership. Adherence to this code ensures that members uphold the reputation of the institute, maintain public trust, and demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism in their careers.

By committing to the CIML Code of Conduct, members not only reinforce their personal credibility but also contribute to the broader advancement of the management leadership profession. The code serves as a guide for ethical decision-making, responsible behavior, and continuous professional development, ensuring that CIML members act as role models in their organizations and communities.

Act honestly, fairly, and transparently in all professional dealings.

Professional Competence

Maintain and enhance knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities.

Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) appropriate to membership grade.

Ethical Leadership

Confidentiality & Data Protection

Respect the confidentiality of organizational, client, and personal information.

Comply with legal and regulatory requirements on data protection.

Enforcement and Compliance

Reporting Misconduct

Members are encouraged to report violations of the Code through CIML’s formal reporting channels.

Reports can be anonymous, but must include factual details.

Investigation

CIML Ethics Committee investigates alleged breaches impartially and confidentially.

Members may be required to provide documentation, clarification, or evidence.

Consequences of Breach

Potential sanctions include:

Written warning or formal reprimand

Suspension of membership rights

Revocation of membership designation

Referral to legal or regulatory authorities if required

Appeals

Members may appeal decisions of the Ethics Committee through a formal appeal process defined by CIML governance.

Commitment Statement

All CIML members are required to formally acknowledge and commit to this Code of Conduct upon joining and upon annual membership renewal:
